I did it…

September 8th, 2008

Phew, I did it, yeah!  Saturday’s Creative Memories class went very well.  Thank you all for the very supportive comments and emails and notes on Facebook.  I was very nervous before everyone arrived but once the class was underway I felt great.  I really enjoyed the demonstration and found that it wasn’t anywhere near as hard as I had imagined.  So bring on the next class…

In other news Nick had his lovely long locks lopped, try saying that six times!!  He found a picture of some bloke from The Offsping … huh??? And so he went from this

to this

Suddenly he looks even more grown up, sigh!

Lee and the boys had a lovely Fathers Day on Sunday.  Following the gift giving and big egg and bacon brekkie we headed off to the local Soccer Social Club for the afternoon.  When we arrived at the club I thought for a moment or two that we had come on the wrong day.  The dance floor was packed with girls waring bobby socks and swishy satin skirts and men in black and white spats (gangster shoes) and black shirts with white ties.  The one-man-band, wearing a pink sparkly jacket, was belting out country and western tunes and every couple on the dance floor was doing the best Rockabilly dancing I’ve ever seen.  Just watching these couples bop around the dance floor in perfect harmony was fun, under the arm, around, tap on the shoulder, kick, and swish, turn.  Sadly my husband has two left feet, but a woman at the bar did make his day when she snuggled up to him and asked for a dance ;).

Oh, I nearly forgot about this bit, the club had also arranged for this very clever man to entertaining the children by making balloon things, he did swards, dogs, flowers and an amazing monkey.  Bailey went up first and asked for a bulldog, in his football teams colours.  Nick, being 13 and way too old for this kind of thing, thought it would only be cool if the man could make him a dragon … and he did with flames, fangs and googly eyes!  Now that’s a pretty cool job.

Spring has heralded a new outlook on life for me.  I feel really motivated and positive about my scrapbooking venture; work at the bank has become almost unbearable.  I’m at the stage where I’m constantly looking for excuses to stay at home, like “oh you have a splinter, dear me you may need surgery”, that kind of thing.  Friday was exhausting with so few staff and so many customers.  I’m going to work really hard at getting as many scrapbooking customers under my wing as I can, book lots of classes and have two monthly in-house workshops.  Hopefully by the end of spring I will be on schedule to give up at least half a day at the bank.

And so another week begins.  What will it bring?  Good stuff I’m sure.  Have a wonderful week everyone.

I’m so glad all your fears were for naught and that it went well! I knew it would! I loved reading about your boys and the lovely time you had on Father’s Day. That sounds like it was a lot of fun!! I have days when I’d love to jack my job in as well. I suppose everybody does. Then I think twice about how lucky I am to have a job and count my blessings. It’s not always easy to do though! I wish it was spring we were looking forward to here!!! XXOO

Well done you! I knew you could do it. There’s nothing wrong with a little adrenilin. I survive on it when teaching. Oscar thinks that Nicks hair looks ‘way cool’ - high praise indeed.

So glad the class went well. (We all knew it would). Happy new haircut to Nick. I’ve actually heard of Offspring and I’ve even downloaded one of their singles. Impressed?
