As many of us do, I spend a lot of time in my study, either on the computer blogging or at my craft table. As organised as I try to be it still looks overcrowded and messy. There are too many different types of furniture, nothing matches and nothing is big enough. So I have hatched a plan to get a beautiful new “studio” built in my study. It currently looks like this…

But I am lusting for any one of these…
As you can see they are all wonderful. There is space for paper and ribbon, buttons and bows, cutters and punches.
So much light and inspiration. A place for everything and everyting in it’s place.

There is only one problem; these beautiful studios cost a blooming fortune! Over the past few weeks I have had quotes done from cabinetmakers ranging from the sublime to the ridicules, one quoted me $7,500.00, that’s more than a kitchen!
So I have hatched a plan to earn more money and pay for the new studio. I am signing up to become a consultant for Creative Memories, which means I will be scrapbooking part time and getting paid to do it at the same time! I currently work three and a half days at the bank, which will leave me three full days plus my evenings to do workshops and demonstrations.
I’ve been scrapping for eight years so none of this is new to me and I came sooooo very close to opening my own shop a few years ago, I was thwarted at the final jump and have regretted it every since. I am really hoping that I will become a successful consultant and you just never know, one day I may even be able to leave the bank.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

“A place for everything and everything in its place” is going to be my new mantra! Good luck with becoming a consultant (sounds exciting - don’t think we have that kind of thing over here) and keep us posted with news and pictures of the new studio.

Have you looked at Ikea for some pieces of furniture. Your plans have given me inspiration. I’m going to tackle our office

I would love to have something like that too, but……..I have young people moving back in so my craft/sewing room (sigh) is being put on hold right now.
I missed your contest. I have been so out of it lately.
That’s a perfect way to earn money. You’ll do well.
Have a great weekend.

Your craft room/study as it exists looks wonderful. But I do understand your desire for the upgrade. My crafts are in 3 separate locations with no hope of combining them. It’s actually easier that way for me. They don’t have a chance to mingle and talk to one another about being neglected.

Wow, all of those photos look fabulous!!! How I wish I could get one custom made! Mine is just thanks to ikea at this stage!! And I wish you could get a kitchen for $7500!! We just had ours redone and it was nearly triple that, but worth each penny. Good luck with your creative memories fundraising, how exciting!! =)

Sigh, I’m lusting after what you have right now, not what you don’t have! My husband runs his own small business so our little study is a true study mainly for him, my crafting stuff is in the spare bedroom, but it also has to compete with the camping gear, the ironing board, a sofa bed and all the cushions off the deck furniture in the winter months. Can’t even fit a table in there at the moment!

Those studios would be great. Good luck with the consulting job. I hope you can have your dream studio soon.
Have you ever used this site for your geneology?

Oh Maddy I know hun, i too am lusting after a to-die-for studio space. I have dreams and plans and need built in furniture for the Attic too. Lets hope we both one day get our dream space, and in the meantime I’m wishing you a huuuuuge amount of luck with your new venture. I’ve heard of Creating Memories, it exists in a small way in the UK. I can imagine somehow that you would be fabulous at that sort of thing, I hope in every way it’s a success for you :o)
