We had a magnificent Easter long weekend filled with family, friends, chocolate and, for the first time in months, lots and lots of rain.

I foolishly optimistically ventured to the shopping centre on Saturday morning feeling a little apprehensive about how many others had the same idea and biting my lip over how long was is it going to take me to find a car space. I’m always very positive to begin with and drive past the car spaces nearest to the entrance, and continue around and around getting further and further away from the entrance. Well the carpark fairy was definitely with me as I literally drove into a space ten seconds after I entered the carpark, and it was only 100 yards from the entrance! My boys whooped and yelled “way to go Mum”! The centre itself was packed but we got all the shopping done in around an hour and headed home quick smart.
Sunday morning saw the boys running around the house hunting down mini chocolate eggs, that cheeky bunny even put some in their bathroom and toilet! My parents came for a lovely full English breakfast with plenty of cups of Earl Grey tea. We had tried to cut down on the chocolate this year but to no avail. The afternoon was spent with friends, wine, chatter and a wonderful baked cheesecake topped with raspberrys.

It’s been very dry here in Melbourne and the weather bureau are saying the drought may finally be coming to an end. Well if last nights three hour thunder, lightning and massive rain storm is anything to go by they are spot on. The evening began with lots of lightning in the distance, which slowly came over our house. The boys sat in the dark watching as the storm gradually brewed, getting louder and louder. The rain was seriously heavy and the intensity of the rain was so loud we couldn’t hear the telly. Suddenly the lights went out and we found ourselves on anther Easter hunt, this time for torches and candles.
Have a brilliant short week everyone.

It sounds like a perfect Easter Sunday, Maddy. I remember the days of hiding eggs and what fun it was to watch the children and grandkids search high and low. Now I must wait for great grandchildren, or rent some!
Sometimes, when the power goes out, it’s nice to sit and listen to the earth and the air. We, unfortunately, had more snow. No Easter bonnets here. I even contemplated wearing my Christmas sweater. Spring can’t get here soon enough.

Sounds like you had a lovely Easter Maddy. Our shops were crazy this weekend with Easter shoppers! I couldn’t believe it. Anyone would have thought the shops were going to be closed for a month, not only a day! I had to pop in yesterday for work and was amazed to see the same scenario playing itself out! We always use a power outage to play cards by candlelight! It’s so much fun, I don’t know why we just don’t turn off the lights sometimes and do it anyways!

We, too had a White Easter. Snow every morning then some heavy thawing so much so it looked like rain. I too am bursting for Spring. So pleased the drought may be over.

Hmmm, one of my favourite times, I thought maybe the boys were a little too old and being here in Dubai werent interested anymore, but to my surprise the discussion home from school on Wed (Thurs the Porphets birthday and our day off, no lazy Easter Sunday - it was back to work for me!), was is it too hot to hide the eggs outside ??? So yes, I had to get my act together and go find some easter eggs here in Dubai, lucky the local had some eggs the same as the ones in your basket, So up early (5.45 am) to hide the eggs before going off to school at 7am. They run down pushed and shoved and jumped over each other to find the eggs, peppermint, fruit and nut and caramel,, oh and I did find to big maltesers - Lucky of me they loved the hunt but dont like the peppermint or fruit and nut - so poor mum got to nibble them at work all day……..heres a happy DAY to everyone who celebrated easter with joy…..Cxxxx
