Odd stuff!

February 16th, 2008

I’m back at work, sigh, and as we all know it doesn’t take long to feel like you never had a holiday at all.  I loved my three weeks off and felt very relaxed all week at work and even found the time flew by, which is a good thing.

I’m struggling today with what to post about!  I took this photo of my new most favourite kitchen gadget and I was going to add to it with other good gadget ideas but then found I couldn’t find any other gadgets that I liked.  So you just get this groovy little thang I picked up at Ikea!

Then I was going to write about how odd it is that my son can lick his elbow, which apparently is impossible!  But when I Googled “lick your elbow” I found that it’s not really impossible and many people can actually lick their elbow.  So I’ll just let you see that he can and giggle to myself that you will either ask your kids to try it or try yourself!

And then finally I found something interesting to talk about.  While blog-hopping at Love Those Cupcakes I read about a trip Liz took to NYC and found her photos fascinating, especialy one taken of a sculpture.  Then this week I saw this old black and white photo and realised the sculpture was made in the image of this photo.   This amazing photo was taken in 1931 of the Ironworkers having lunch high above New York City while working on the construction of the Rockefella Centre.  The photo was taken by Charles E. Ebbets and then turned into a sculpture by Sergio Furnari.  What I find amazing is that someone thought to take photos!  What a wonderful thing to be able to look back on and see just how dangerous it was and how very brave these men were.

If I ever get to New York I’m going to have to find this sculpture for myself.  Hmm now that’s a good idea for a future post …

    Hi,
That’s a great gadget! I saw something similar at my son’s school a few years ago (not that he would eat fresh fruit - but my daughter would love it). Now I must check out Ikea.
    Regards, Ann.
