The weekend was perfect. I got to sleep-in, scrapbook, do a little family tree research, watch a great movie and spend time drinking tea and catching up with my sister. It just doesn’t get any better than that.
I have a hundred things on my list of holiday activities and first up is a trip to the library with the boys to do some more birth, death and marriage investigating. Last nights episode of Who Do You Think You Are starring Kate Ceberano was very inspiring. Her research took her to Tasmania which, coincidently is where my husband’s family first migrated to from England in the 1800’s. So I plan to go to the local library and spend a few hours looking up some of the missing details on our tree that have me puzzled.
I’m also planning on reading and finishing Pride and Prejudice which, anyone who has already read this book knows, is pretty heavy going, lovely but heavy. I’m determined to finish it this week as I often find I get ¾ of the way through a book and lose interest and don’t finish it. I am determined to not let that happen.
I recently spent a wonderful Sunday afternoon completely ingroesed in the movie Pride and Prejudice. While watching the movie and slowly falling in love with Mr Darcy I realised that in the past Colin Firth has held the title of *the* Mr Darcy, but having now seen Matthew Macfadyen’s wonderful version of the said Mr Darcy I am totally convinced he is far more smoulderingly handsome and just … well I’ll leave the rest to your own imaginations. So it now raises the question who do you think makes the better Mr Darcy? Is it…

Or
B) Colin Firth

Leave me a comment and at the end of the week we will have our tally. If you have not had a chance to either read the book or see either the 1995 or 2005 versions of Pride and Prejudice I strongly recommend you do so. Over at Cherry Menlove they are about to start reading this book in Cherry’s book club, so maybe this could be a great opportunity to start reading it.
With all that to digest I will leave you now and head off to the library.

My all time favourite book. I used to think it was Colin Firth but I must admit I loved watching Matthew MacFadyen. OK it’s a tough choice but I guess Colin Firth wins. He is my Mr. Darcy.

I love P&P and when reading it my ideal Mr Darcy changes each time (to whichever crush I have at that moment - first was Ben Murphy from Alias Smith and Jones like a century ago at school! and more recently Johnny Depp……!) However, Colin Firth I think is the winner in this particular contest!!

matthew every time - just because he acted darcy so much better - colin just did ‘arrogant’ all the way through - but in the p&p with matthew I could really imagine him having to change his mind as he fell in love - and the moment at the end when he told her - one of my favourite movie moments - might have to go and watch it again - colin in a wet nightie - you can keep him!
