Post Christmas wrap up.

December 28th, 2007

I know this picture looks a little boring and has very bad light and colour but it’s a true representation of how bloody early we were up on Christmas morning, yes, that clock reads 6.15AM! Not even the sun has made an appearance at this stage of the day. Both boys were in our bed at 6am “can we please get up now? Please? Pretty please? Dad? Mum are you awake? Please”.  As our boys are 10 and 12 years old there really is no room in our bed for four of us anymore and so with my eyes hanging out of my head we relented and got up to joyas squeals, multiple oohhhs and ahhhhs and smiles and hugs all round, and that made it all worth while.

The reason I was soooo tired started at 9pm on Christmas Eve. I had decided to charge up Bailey’s #1 Christmas gift, a NintendoDS, so that on Christmas day he would be able to play with it immediately. Sounds like a good idea. So I plugged it in the minute the boys were safely tucked in bed, turned the Christmas carols on and my husband and I began to wrap the boys gifts. By 11 we were done with the wrapping but the DS was still not fully charged. Hubby went to bed, I made myself a nice warm coco and settled on the couch to watch the rest of Carols by Candlelight. Hmmm it’s now midnight, the carols are finished as is the coco and the DS is still charging, oh well it can’t be long now … can it? By 1am it was finally charged, wrapped and ready and I crawled into bed and layed my head on the pillow. In what felt like a nano second in time it’s 6am and the boys are bouncing me out of bed!!!

We had a wonderful day, the weather was perfect, the gifts generous and the food and wine abundant! I hope you all enjoyed a very special day spent with those that are near and dear to you.

Sounds like you all had a great time, Maddy. My two kids are grown up now so the very early start to Christmas Day is a thing of the past. They still expect Santa to leave stockings, though!

I’m sorry Maddy but I can beat you. You say 6:15am, I raise you 2.15am. Oscar was SO excited he couldn’t go back to sleep so 3.00am saw us snuggling in our bed watching Muppet Christmas carol and Himself asleep in Oscar’s bed. Aggh. At 4.00am I woke my lovely husband and went downstairs to sleep on the sofa. My mum and sister were both hysterical as they have both had similiar early starts in the past. After lunch on Christmas Day I had to go for a snooze. Ahh Happy Days. We have had a great time though

Sounds a lovely day Maddy. I remember those early Christmas morning starts. I still am the first one awake. I was sitting here at 5 am on Christmas morning and I had to wait a full three hours before Todd made his appearance! Mind you, I am always ready for bed by 9 pm. I guess I am must a morning person. May 2008 bring you many, many blessings, much more than your hands and heart can possibly hold!
