Judy over at Mid Life Bliss has tagged me with this cool meme, it’s very simple … What were you doing 10/20/30 years ago?  Thanks Judy, I am going to enjoy writing this post.
10 years ago… I was a 33 year old stay-at-home mother to 2 year old Nicholas and our new baby, Bailey. Princess Diana, Mother Teresa and Michael Hutchence had all died that year and my husband and I had decided not to have any more children. I was deeply depressed about not having had a daughter, our decision to stop at two children and for some reason Diana’s death had left me very sad. I was doing Weight Watchers and by Christmas I had lost 10 kilos (22 lbs), physically I was feeling great. We were living in our first home, *The Renovators Delight*, also referred to as *The Money Pitt* and we drove one car. I enjoyed walking into town with Bailey in the pram and Nick standing on the back. Life was extremely simple back then, with only one wage it had to be!

20 years ago… I was a 23 year old single girl living out of home for the first time with four girlfriends, all nurses! Hmmm does that give you a picture of what my life was like? We lived in a huge four bedroom house with a view of the ocean.  I had the crappiest car in existence and it broke down often.  The worst time was on Christmas Eve as I drove to my parents, car filled with gifts and the temperature soring into the high 30’s, suddenly the car began to overheat and I had to pullover on the freeway. With no mobile phones back then I had to walk for half an hour to a roadside phone box to call for help, then walk back to my car and wait and wait and wait for my wonderful fiance to rescue me. Lee and I had become engaged in December ‘86 and I soon realised it was time to give up the care free days of life in the big house and move home to start saving for our wedding. My bank balance was wonderful, I had no debts what-so-ever and, as I have just noticed in the photo, I had long nails! Life was pretty darn good.

30 years ago… I was 13 years old and in my first year at high school. I played softball every Saturday in the local competition and in the school team. My sisters, Penny and Jackie, were planning their weddings and our home was very full with the five of us and my brother-in-law to be, Ray, living in a caravan in our garden. We had a beautiful Labrador retriever named Brandy and a little grey cat.  I went to an all girls school and I can remember coming out of a classroom one afternoon and all the girls in the hall were crying and some had fainted, Elvis Presley had died!  My favourite TV shows were The Love Boat, Happy Days and I had a *crush* on Vinnie Barbarino from Welcome Back Kotta. For my birthday I went to McDonald’s for the very first time and I had a Big Mac! Do you remember the add? “Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun!”
