Last night my sister, Penny, and I went to see Hairspray at the flicks and I have to say that it’s the best movie I’ve seen this year. I loved everything about it, from the amazing 60’s wardrobe to the music that makes you want to get up and dance, fantastic shoes and hairstyles to die for, well it is called Hairspray after all!

The opening seen with Tracy Turnblad singing on her way to school had me from the first beat. She taps her way through school and then rushes home to watch the Corny Collins Show. I have to say right here that if that show were on now, I too would be rushing home to watch it as well.

John Travolta is amazing as Tracy’s mother, Edna and the pink dress Mr Pinky gives to Edna is just brilliant.

If you get the chance this weekend I would strongly recommend you find a girlfriend and go and watch this fun, happy, uplifting movie.

Earlier this week I mentioned the wonderful parcel I received from Melly and Me, followed by the arrival of my LG Prada phone, well good things really do come in threes as later in the week I received yet another wonderful parcel in the post. Earlier in the year I won a prize draw over at What Katie Did, the parcel has now safely arrived all the way from Northumberland, England.  I have just got to tell you all how very touched I am by Katie’s generous gifts. There are yummy chocolates, beautiful cards, a wonderful book called Random Acts of Kindness, wool, buttons and some of Katie’s own recycled/rescued crafts.
Thank you again Katie, I appreciate all the things you put in the parcel.Â

Finally, an update on Red the wonder dog. He is now six months old, big and beautiful. When we first got the puppy I was unsure how I felt about it all, and to be totally honest I didn’t really want a dog. I am pleased, if not a tad surprised, to report that I have completely fallen in love with him and wouldn’t give him up for the world. He is gentle and affectionate and I just can’t believe how much he loves us, the feeling are completely mutual.Â
And so to the weekend, what will it bring? Ah yes I know, washing and ironing LOL.  I hope you all enjoy a great weekend, spent with family and friends and maybe a trip to the movies

Hi Maddy - hope you are all well and recovering from the fact that we won on Saturday - soccor, rugby and cricket. Having been a faliure at sports for soooo long the whole country is quite beside itself. I doubt it will continue however - Those Springbok boys are GOOD.
Anyway on to Hairspray -I loved the movie. Some bits of it made me feel sick - living as I do in Bradford - as far from segregation as possible.
I dont have a blog. I would love one but my husband says I dont have time

Congratulations on the wonderful gift from Northumberland. I have heard that Hairspray is great. I saw in the shop it was already on video here. Was not sure whether to get it or not but now maybe I will next time I see it.
