Go the Storm

September 23rd, 2007

Thank you to all those who wished Bailey well on his adventure to School Camp.  He thoroughly enjoyed the two nighs and three days away from home.  I was thrilled to hear he’d had a go at most of the extream activities.  He apparently fell in the lake twice while kneeling on a raft and attempting to  pull himself across the lake!  No surprises there as he has little or no sense of balance, he was eight before he could ride a bike, and that only happened after he was bribed rewared with a new X-Box game if he would just try to ride the darn bike.  His clothing was filthy so it was obvious he had a ball and only lost one pair of undies and two pairs of socks, not bad really!

Here in Australia it’s all about football.

We have the local Aussie rules final next weekend, my team, Collingwood, was knocked out on Friday night following a hard fort match that resulted in a 5 point loss.

The Rugby Leagues semi final is this afternoon, live on TV at 4pm and I will be screaming for The Melbourne Storm to win.  They finished the season on top of the ladder and, following last years grand final loss, I think today they will be playing hard. Go the Storm!

Internationally the Rugby Union World Cup is on.  I staid up till midnight to watch England play Samoa.   England scored a try at the one minute and forty second mark, not a good sign for Samoa, then the annoyingly brilliant Jonny Wilkinson put through a field goal and by the four minute mark it was 10 - zip!! At which point I went to bed.

The weather has been wonderful, sadly not enough rain but it’s hard to be upset about that when you are outside gardening and the sun is on your back and a lovely warm wind on your face.  I am planning my next adventure in the garden, a hand paved area done with pebbles. Lately I’ve seen lots of lovely alternative gardens around my area which have me very interested in getting back out into the garden.  Grass is no longer an option as it burns off in summer and with the stricked water restrictions in place we have no choice but to let it all die off.  Yesterday Lee and I went for a drive to do some garden spotting, it was loads of fun and we came home with plenty of inspirational ideas on how we can transform our dead front grass area.

With that said I will leave you with this …

Hi Maddy - even tho I am a South Aussie I am a Collingwood supporter and was on the edge of my seat when they beat the Eagles last week….it was a tough game on Friday night and I wasn’t tooo disappointed - I thought the boys played really well and we missed Fraser in the ruck….

    so on to next year!!

    Cheers

Eh up ( the yorkshire hi) So glad Bailey had a great time away. Johnny Wilkinson is brilliant and in no way annoying ( but I’m English so I would think that). We have so few sporting triumphs now we have to cling desperately to the ones we do have. Did the flower thing and I’m a sunflower. My dh is still trying to get a phone book for you. He’s now visiting clients in that area on your behalf. Don’t give up hope.

Thank you for popping in ladies, it’s lovely to hear from all my readers, even the non-blogging folk.

Lorraine I had a feeling Geelong would win, and they did oh well! This afternoon The Storm came home winners so I’m happy.

Thank you Jo and your hubby, is he really checking out clients in the area for me ohhhh I love the net so much. I have put a notice on the Halifax Courier website and on a forum at Shipley.com, my Dad went to school there. So with all that out there I am sure to get a hit sooner or later.

    Have a lovely week all.
