Now that was a great weekend, exhausting, but great.
Â
Saturday morning’s pie making went very well and we cooked over 120 chicken and veg pies. Barbara made a very good point in my last post when she mentioned how difficult it is now to hold a simple school fete. Jo and I have had to get permits and thermostats, use by dates and a list of full ingredients on the pie bags. We choose to serve them cold in packs of four as the drama associated with attempting to serve them hot was extreme. Even sending my boys to school with a birthday cake requires a full list of ingredients that have gone into the cake … in the end you have to wonder if it’s all worth the effort.

On Saturday night Lee and I went to the flicks to see The Bourne Ultimatum it was fantastic. We enjoyed every bone jarring moment and there was even a round of applause at one point. I have really enjoyed this trilogy of movies and was glad to see they left the end open for a number four.

Tomorrow Bailey is off on a school camp. I am trying very hard to be brave and believe that all the hard work over the past few years will have prepared him and me for two nights away from home. The camp is a very well established one and Nicholas loved it when he went. They will be doing loads of outdoor activities from archery to canoeing. Today I’m spending the day packing his little suite case and making sure all his clothes are well labelled as he is prone to losing this kind of thing. I’m feeling OK at the moment, although I did call the school this morning just to check on the bus departure time and I may even pop into the school this afternoon to see Baileys teacher. Hmmmm no I don’t thing I am OK after all.

Well I had better get moving, I have loads of dishes to wash and “that†suitcase to pack.Â

That is a LOT of pies–LOL! Those pie makers/irons are neat–I’ve not seen anything like those before. Hope B has fun at camp! Happy Day ((HUGS))

Tracy, the pie makers are great to use, we have two that make 4 pies at a time and one that makes 2 pies, so in total every six minutes we turn out 10 pies. The pie makers come with a special pastry cutter which does the perfect cuts to fit in the bottom and the top. I use shortcrust pastry on the bottom and puff on the top.

Your pies look so good! I liked the Bourne Ultimatum too, btw … the day after we saw it we happened to go through Waterloo station, so Bobby was embarrassing the kids by pretending to hide from the security cameras

LOL Annalise, I think I would have found myself looking for all those cameras too.
