For the past week and a half I have been posting from my old computer which is very slow, has a tiny screen and is very reliable!!  The new “monster” has been back to the ”tech guy” three times and is currently on it’s way back there.

The first problem came when the computer began to freeze up with in a minute of being switched on, being less than 12 months old it was still covered by the warranty so back to the shop it goes.  A faulty mother board was diagnosed and replaced.  

Back home, plugged in and running, no more freezing up BUT we couldn’t get on the net! What the??? This is odd as everything else is working just fine.  Unplugg  everything and back to the ”techguy” who diagnosed a Trojan … hmmm even odder as this was not the original problem, oh well he is the ”tech guy” so I guess he knows what’s best. 

How do you repair a Trojan I hear you ask?  You don’t.  The solution is to delete EVERYTHING from your computer and reinstall everything from scratch.  So my Friday night was spent reloading the printer, the scanner, google earth, email, on and on the list is endless.  Finally at 2am I go to bed confidant all is now well with the world.

 Saturday morning and my husband asks my why we have no sound?  What? No sound?  We spent the day testing and retesting, unplugging and reloading with no clue as to why we have no sound we use our final option and “phone a friend”.  He is kind enough to talk us through and tell us sadly that the new mother board appears to have no sound card attached and that it needs to go back to, you guessed it …. “the tech guy”!

And so my husband, pc in hand, is on his way back to the shop with the computer and I sit here in the kids room tapping away on the old girl.  Lets cross our fingers and hope all goes well this time.
